Our Purpose

Public Domain Literature Library is an independent catalogue of ebooks drawn from the rich store of works whose copyright has expired. Our aim is to make these texts available in a form that respects their original character while providing the contextual information that modern readers find useful. We do not claim to be a comprehensive archive, but rather a carefully selected collection that grows as we identify works worth preserving and presenting.

How the Catalogue Is Organised

Books are grouped into categories that reflect their content and possible uses. For example, Exploring Classic Adventures & Expeditions gathers narratives of travel, exploration, and daring, while Childhood Classics: Texts & Context places well-loved children's books alongside background material. A Guide to World Events in Context and A Guide to Lives, Customs & Historical Worlds help readers situate works within their historical and cultural settings. These categories are not rigid; many books could appear in more than one, and we assign them where they seem most helpful.

Each entry includes the full text of the work, presented as a cleanly formatted ebook. Where possible, we add reading notes, background essays, or thematic discussions.
